Miss Mary's Wellness Garden and Educational Center
a program of the Center of Wellness of Urban Women
In 2010, the Center of Wellness was donated the use of two lots and a home to provide educational and prevention services to women and their families.
CWUW also received a project grant from Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to begin a community garden for the Riverside neighborhood.
Goals for the community garden and educational center:
Miss Mary's Educational Center

We are very blessed to be given the use of the house which is on the property of the CWUW community garden. This home is was once owned by Mary Lucy Kinchlow, born in 1903. Miss Lucy's life epitomizes our mission and how we want to serve women.
She owned her own business named "Mary's Lunch Room", at 723 Indiana Ave in the 1940s and 50s. She tended her own garden. She was an important member of her community. She represents how you live the 7 Dimensions of Wellness.
We are proud to be able to develop a place for women to learn balance and well-being in her name.
Miss Mary's home and CWUW's future educational center is 101 years old. It needs work. CWUW is looking to renovate the home leaving some of its charm but making it into the educational center women can benefit from.
We are developing a committee to to rehab Miss Mary's Place. If you're interested in being a part of this committee to help CWUW seek resources and donations to create our center, please email us at info@cwuwonline.org
Miss Mary's Garden

Work continues on CWUW's community garden. We are very happy to be working with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and the number of volunteers who have some by to help. More experienced gardeners and volunteers are needed. Please sign up for one of our volunteer days or for the committee.
